Ashlock's Top 10

My sister Rita and her husband Jason spent two weeks with us before our trip to the States. Here are their top 10 observations about Indo.

1. Traffic laws are flexible.
2. Something's always on fire.
3. The call to prayer happens 5 times daily in full surround sound (and sometimes it's "amateur night," with little children on the mic.)
4. When you meet someone for the first time, friendship is instantaneous.
5. How can they squat for that long?
6. Deflated economy = cheap tourism
7. Road signs aren't reliable.
8. (The following should be read with tongue firmly in cheek) The Javanese know everything, especially when it comes to giving directions.
9. Coffee filters are unnecessary; the thicker the sludge, the better the java.
10. Yes, there is a volcano.
